The thought of getting started and even beginning to write about what’s happened in the past six months has been overwhelming. Despite this, and the fact we don’t write very often or very well, we know that we want to share our journey about our son. We appreciate everyone’s patience because although we have wanted to update each and every one of you, the reality was that we were dealing with a lot as a family. Each message, email and text we received was so important to us. It kept us grounded and let us know we had an amazing support system. Even though you may not have received a reply, it meant the world to us and we thank you.
Our beautiful boy, Emmett Jun Yi Lam was born on the 14 June, 2021. What would have been such a happy moment at birth, took an unexpected turn, one which we were not prepared for. Emmett was born with Transposition of the Great Arteries with complex coronary anatomy. This is his story. He is our warrior, our little baby boy that beams so bright he lights up our family. We know that it will at times be very difficult to relive the memories buried deep down, under the big pile of ‘life must go on’ and the bustle of three kids under five. At the same time we also want to share the small intimate moments that fill our hearts full of hope. Like seeing Emmett smile for the first time, hearing his giggles, and watching him call out for his mummy because he has stranger danger. We are in awe of his fighting spirit and determination and we are just so grateful for all of these precious little moments.
This blog is very personal to us, it will help us work through our emotions, help us reflect, help us heal. It means so much to have you visit our page and read about Emmett's story as we navigate through his journey. Emmett is touched by so many guardian angels.
Emmett is Our Heart Warrior, all of ours.
